When we put out our Synth Issue last year, one of the biggest surprises was a schoolbus-yellow beast called the Sledgecourtesy of Studiologic.
So, when the opportunity arose to check out the Numa Compact 2 from Studiologic, we were pretty excited. Where the Sledge is a full-on digital synth monster with oscillators, filters, envelopes, etc. We were not surprised, considering it comes from Fatar. Well, again, at this price point, we were very pleasantly surprised here as well. We appreciated having the tactile buttons to press, so the entire operation is not completely based in nav menus.
So, no worries there. The Numa Compact 2 also comes with built-in speakers. Well played, Studiologic. Well played, indeed. This is rumored to be a known problem that maybe fixed via firmware. If it was a significant issue with our demo unit, we would have noted it in the review.
As it stands, we did not encounter the issues noted above. I noticed some jerky uneven response with the mod wheel, pitch and pedal inputs in a demo video.
We had no issues with these functions, either on the Numa Compact 2 or the Sledge 2.Ezgif twitter
Not that we recall, although we no longer have the unit in front of us to confirm. Dave Cremonese. Your email address will not be published. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. Win this Steinberg Interface!

Re: Studiologic Numa Compact 2. Joined: Jan This is practically my dream gigging keyboard Here's hoping it's not too expensive. I hope to hear more information soon. Joined: Jul Sydney, Australia. How does the action compare to the Casio range, just out of curiousity?2 ethnography and big data workshop
I reckon Casio have a very good piano feel for the total mass of the instrument. This is basically a weighted synth action with piano-style keys and a heavier weight at the front of the key, rather than a weighted piano action. So it won't be very similar to the Casio Privia series, which I agree are probably the best fully-weighted keyboards under 30 pounds.
Hopefully it will feel just a little bit better for grand piano playing. Kraft Music now has it on their website. Kawai CE Casio PX3.

I'm sure in a few weeks we'll have all info we need I'm also interested in it. In the meantime, all we can do is wait. Sorry again for my blunt reply, didn't mean no offence!Home Help Search Login Register. Studiologic Sledge 40 Replies Views. I've always had a fascination with this instrument. First, it's a nice full-sized synthesizer, second, it's a hybrid, and third, it has a fabulous knobby panel lay out.
However, the yellow color has always deterred me from looking any further. But is this new color any better?
Paul Dither Why not getting one of those? Shaw Quote from: Shaw on June 20,PM. DavidDever Quote from: Shaw on June 21,PM. The drawing above leads me to believe that the main PCB which matches neither the Sledge nor the Blofeld layouts will be re-designed to accommodate a better output stage one of the weaknesses of the Blofeld IMHO - with due care, that could be a massive improvement.
That said - it's still a virtual-analogue device, and with the development issues experienced by Waldorf and Hartmann over the last two decades, that's still going to be a tough sell when compared to a vintage Waldorf Wave The Sledge has always appealed to me for its exceptionally clean and roomy control panel. I would love to program an instrument like that. But the sound doesn't appeal to the same degree. I think the Blofeld sounds a bit better - beefier, even though still on the thin side.
I have no interest in the Sledge, although I once did. My meager digital needs are easily met by the Evolver's wave shapes. The Blofeld was once of much greater interest to me, but I decided to be content with what I already have. BobTheDog I always thought the Sledge was just a Blofeld in another box, or have I got it wrong? I believe it has a similar engine, but not identical.Discussion in ' Keyboards and Synthesizers ' started by aladdinsaneAug 3, Log in or Sign up.
The Gear Page. Aug 3, 1. Messages: Would like to hear players opinions of the black 2. This would be my first crack at a synthesizer. I'm not good at menu diving or computer programs putting it mildly. These seem to have some great sounds that are right in front of youlotsa knobs.
I have listened to a number of demos and keep coming back to this one. Got to keep it under a grand. Aug 4, 2. Messages: 3, Apparently they have some very annoying firmware bugs. Aug 4, 3. If you just want something that will be easy to navigate as a beginner, I think there are much cheaper options that would be nearly as good: Korg MS, Roland Gaia SH01, etc. At the same time, I think for the price of a Sledge you could get something that you'll grow into if you're willing to sacrifice a little bit of front-end beginner usability.
For example, the Elektron Analog Keys is tough to get into, but is an incredibly deep synth once you master the workflow and it's not super hard, IMO. Aug 4, 4. Aug 4, 5. Aug 4, 6. Aug 4, 7. Not sure about being a good starter synth or if there are problems with a older instrument like this, not exactly cheap at bucks ,any thoughts or suggestions?
